Saxophonist Rocky Gordon is a native of Philadelphia.  He is also the son of jazz saxophonist Irv Gordon, who relocated his family to Las Vegas when Rocky was still in school, when work was plentiful there.  Rocky met many great musicians in his youth, and chose to follow the path of music early on.

After studying classical piano at a very young age, Rocky moved on to drums, where he was mentored by jazz great, Irv Kluger.  While still in his teens he studied writing and arranging with Wes Hensel, before Wes moved on to teach at Berklee College of Music.
